| Dear Sue,
THE DOORS TO MY CLOSET ARE OPEN!!
After more than 30 years as an "Alternative Shopper"
I have finally decided to answer the question, "How
can you afford to dress the way you do on a budget?"
Perhaps necessity was the Mother of
Invention in honing my skills, but after years
developing them and being asked repeatedly to share
the knowledge with others . . . it became obvious
that the time had come.
Thus was born THE CLOSET COACH! I have
been absolutely thrilled and humbled by the
overwhelming response I have received, and am
finding my work a true labor of love.
It is a joy and privilege to serve as guide and coach
to individual clients and groups with whom I interact
in-person. Now, through the wonders of
Cyberspace, I can extend such services to a much
larger number of women embarking on very personal
journeys of self-discovery. Together, we will define
and refine wardrobes that serve to communicate
unique and individual personalities. For I truly believe
that EVERY WOMAN IS BEAUTIFUL!
Honoring that belief, my work is a celebration of the
inherent elegance, playfulness, professionalism, spirit
and feminine that distinguish women as driving forces
of society. I am living proof that anyone can dress in
high quality clothing that reflects a dynamic sense of
fashion and style without spending a fortune.
If you are interested in exploring how we might work
together, please go to the CONTACT page of the
website. I would be delighted to set up a FREE 15
minute consultation to see how I might serve. My
clients are both local to the San Francisco Bay Area -
as well as locations more distant. Many services are
experienced in-person, while other work is carried out
by phone and e-mail exchanges. I look forward to
hearing from you!
Warmly, Sue Ross - THE CLOSET COACH

Introducing THE ALTERNATIVE SHOPPING MOVEMENT(c)!
Every Woman's Right to Style and Elegance at Reasonable Prices
With the costs of everything rising, it is time that we
as women take a stand. Why should we be
relegated to purchasing clothes that do not truly
present our beauty, style and flair . . . just because
the designers who speak to our inner elegance are
too costly for most people's budgets?!
I invite you to join me in creating an Alternative Shopping Movement
employing techniques to allow all women access to
designer labels and the finest, high quality
clothing . . . without the exorbitant costs so often
attached. It is my position that women need not be
slaves to fashion, but rather pioneers in achieving
whatever look they desire at a price they can afford!
Alternative Shopping can be practiced at:
- High-end consignment stores, resale or thrift
shops
- Manufacturer Outlets, Flea Markets and Garage
Sales
- Favorite shops' "hidden treasure areas" and
deeply discounted sales
- Print catalog sale pages
- On-line store sales
- On-line auction sites
An Invitation to Join The Alternative Shopping Movement (c)

Is The Look that I Like, The Look That Works for Me?
Did you ever stand at the grocery store's checkout
counter thumbing through the latest versions of Vogue, or other fashion magazines wondering
how you could ever wear the latest styles at your
workplace or even during your leisure time?
Translating the current season's offerings to items
that make sense for your lifestyle, body-style and
budget can be tricky, but reasonably painless when
you remember one thing . . . these are the fashionista's suggestions . . . appetizers to
whet your appetite and provide you with ideas as to
what might work for you.
Grab a few of those mags (I highly recommend every
woman buying either Lucky, or In
Style) and place them atop a pile of catalogs
that flood your mailbox every week. Then pull out a
scissors and pocket file folder and begin snipping out
the particular items that appeal to you. Label the
file "Fashion Attraction" (with the month and year).
You have literally "cut through" the overwhelm factor
and begun the process of isolating current fashion
trends.
IF these looks are both becoming to you and
would be welcome additions to your work or leisure-
time look . . . THE SEARCH BEGINS FOR THOSE
PARTICULAR ITEMS BY EMPLOYING ALTERNATIVE
SHOPPING METHODS AND RESOURCES!
Consider yourself both the artist and the canvas
and create yourself anew every day. Accept the
fashion industry's hints and make them your own.
Shop SMART . . . therein lies the ART!

Review of Encore Consignment Shop
The Oldest Consignment Shop in San Rafael, California
ENCORE CONSIGNMENT SHOP
www.encoreconsignment.com 11 Mary Street, San
Rafael, CA 94901 (25 miles north of San Francisco).
Phone: (415) 456-7309. Hours: Monday - Saturday
10:00 A.M. -- 5:00 P.M. Take Consignments:
Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.
This upscale women's clothing consignment shop has
proven its mettle over 35 years. Proprietor, Linda
Hensley and her able assistants are unquestionably
up on the latest fashions and associated prices.
They only accept clothing under 1 year old (actually
seeking current season offerings) and strive to carry
high-end labels that are both fashionable and in
immaculate condition. Items are kept 8 weeks and
are discounted on Weeks 4 and 8.
Clothing is presented seasonally, offering shoppers
instant gratification following a shopping foray. The
very full racks only have room to display the current
season's offerings, and ladies . . . they are very
discerning!
The discriminating shopper can find some excellent
bargains at Encore. Prices range from beautiful
blouses, pants, skirts, dresses, shoes and other
accessories tagged from $25 to $150 -- to $230 or
higher for designer suits. Rule of thumb is that you
will probably pay from 20% - 75% off the retail
value.
If you'd like to sell something from your own crowded
closet, the split is 50%/50%. It's a great shop with
great offerings. BRAVA ENCORE!

NOW FOR A LITTLE BIT OF MOTHER'S DAY
TRIVIA . . . . In the US, Mother's Day was first
suggested in 1872 by Julia Ward Howe (who wrote
the words to the Battle hymn of the Republic)
as a day dedicated to peace. She held organized
Mother's Day meetings in Boston, Mass ever year.
In 1907, Philadelphian Ana Jarvis began a
campaign to establish a national Mother's Day and
persuaded her mother's church in Grafton, West
Virginia to celebrate Mother's Day on the second
anniversary of her mother's death, the 2nd Sunday of
May. By the next year, Mother's Day was also
celebrated in Philadelphia. Ms. Jarvis and her
supporters wrote to ministers, businessman and
politicians in their quest to establish a national
Mother's Day, meeting success when in 1911
Mother's Day was celebrated in almost every state.
In 1914 President Woodrow Wilson made it official.
